23:1 Ձերբակալ առնել զԱրտաւազդ Անտոնեայ:

23:1 Antony takes Artavazd prisoner:

23:2 Մռնչեալ առիւծաբար գազանութեամբ Անտոնիոս, առաւել եւս թունեալ ի Կղէոպատրայ, քանզի քէն պահէր վասն լլկանաց իւրոյ հանոյն, որ ի Տիգրանայ. եւ ոչ միայն Հայոց, այլ բազմաց այլոց թագաւորաց լինէր մահաբեր, զի նոցայոցն տիրեսցէ իշխանութեանց:

23:2 Antony roared like a wild lion, especially envenomed by Cleopatra because she nourished rancor for the ill treatment inflicted on her grandmother by Tigran. And not only for the Armenians but for many other kings, she was deadly in her efforts to rule over their dominions:

23:3 Սակս որոյ բազում թագաւորս սպանեալ Անտոնիոս` ի Կղէոպատրայ հաւատայ զնոցա իշխանութիւնս, բայց ի Տիւրոսէ եւ ի Սիդովնէ, եւ որ միանգամ ընդ Ազատ գետովն էին:

23:3 For that reason Antony killed many kings and surrendered their dominions to Cleopatra, except for Tyre and Sidon and all the lands by the river Azat:

23:4 Եւ առեալ զբազմութիւն զաւրացն` դիմէ ի վերայ Արտաւազդայ. եւ անցեալ ընդ Միջագետս` կոտորէ անհնարին զզաւրս Հայոց, եւ ձերբակալ առնէ զարքայն նոցա:

23:4 And taking the host of his army he marched against Artavazd. Crossing Mesopotamia, he slaughtered the innumerable army of the Armenians and captured their king:

23:5 Եւ դարձեալ յԵգիպտոս, պարգեւէ Կղէոպատրայ զԱրտաւազդ որդի Տիգրանայ, հանդերձ բազում ընչիւք յանկածէ պատերազմին:

23:5 On returning to Egypt he gave Artavazd, Tigran’s son, as a gift to Cleopatra with many valuables from the booty of the war:
