40:1 A certain one of the Iranian naxarars named Vachakan invaded the country of Armenia with [800000] troops:

40:2 Ապա ժողովէր զօրավարն Հայոց Վասակ զամենայն զզօրսն Հայոց. եւ թողոյր զթագաւորն Արշակ յամուր բերդին Դարիւնաց, եւ ինքն զօրավարն Հայոց Վասակ խաղայր անկանէր հանդերձ զօրօքն Հայոց զբանակաւն Վաչականայ:

40:2 But the general of Armenia, Vasak, assembled all the Armenian troops, left king Arshak in the secure fortress of Dariwnk, and went with the Armenian troops to fall on Vachakan’s banak:

40:3 Սպանանէր զՎաչականն, եւ կոտորէր զբանակսն Պարսից. բայց միայն ապրէր սակաւուք փախուցեալ Մերուժանն, եկեալ առաջնորդ նոցա:

40:3 He killed Vachakan and destroyed the Iranian banak. But only Meruzhan, who had come as their guide, survived and fled, with a few others:
