15:0 Եւ զայս ի պատճէն պատասխանւոյ գրեալ կայսերն Լեւոնի՝ առաքէ ի ձեռն միոյ հաւատարիմ ծառայի իւրոյ առ Օմար իշխանն Իսմայելի. զոր իբրեւ ընթերցաւ՝ յոյժ պատկառանօք ամաչեաց զամօթ մեծ:

15:0 Such was the reply written by Emperor Leo and sent by one of his trusted servants to ’Umar, caliph of the Ishmaelites. When the latter read it, he was overcome by shame:

15:1 Եւ ի ձեռն այսր թղթոյ առաւել եւս յաւելոյր զբարեխառնութիւն եւ զբարեմտութիւն առ ազգս քրիստոնէից, եւ ամենայն ուստէք բարեացապարտ զինքն ցուցանէր: Քանզի, որպէս նախ քան զայս պատմեցաք՝ գերեաց գերեդարձ առնէր եւ ամենեցուն շնորհէր զյանցանս նոցա ձրի թողութեամբ:

15:1 As a result of this letter (‘Umar) became more kindly and tolerant of Christian peoples and on every occasion demonstrated his benevolence. Indeed, as we narrated earlier, he was the one who released the captives and pardoned everyone’s offenses without charge:

15:2 ցուցանէր եւ առ իւրային ազգն մտերմութիւն լաւագոյն քան զառաջինսն, որ նախ քան զնա իշխանքն էին. քանզի զմթերս գանձուցն բացեալ՝ բաշխէր հռոգ սպայիցն: Եւ յետ այսր ամենայնի եղելոյ վախճանէր:

15:2 He demonstrated the same good will toward his own people, more so than any of his predecessors ruling before him. Opening up the treasuries, he gave out stipends to the cavalry officers. After all these events, he died:
