36:0 Յայնմ ժամանակի դարձեալ առաքէ իշխանն Իսմայելի ի վերայ աշխարհիս Հայոց հրամանատար փոխանակ Հասանայ զԵզիտ:

36:0 Once more the caliph sent Yazid (ibn Usaid) to Armenia as commander governor as a replacement for Hasan (ibn Kahtaba:

36:1 Եւ ինքն Աբդլա լցեալ ամենայն ախորժակօք չարասէր կամաց իւրոց եւ ճնշեալ զոգի իւր ի բաղձանս արծաթսիրութեան ախտի, եւ ագահեալ զագահութիւն չար տան իւրոյ՝ ընդունէր զմարգարէին նզովսն. եւ յուսակորոյս սատակէր անդէն ընդ հուպ ի նմին ամի:

36:1 Caliph Abdullah (Abu Jafar al-Manur), having worked all the malice his heart desired, crushing his own soul with the sickness of greed for money—his clan’s particular greed—cursed by the prophet, hopelessly died that same year:

36:2 Իսկ զհանդերձեալն զտեղի դատաստանի նորա յայտնեաց՝ որ բոլորեցունն է հատուցանող միում ումեմն յարժանաւորաց իւրոց ծառայից, քահանայի միոջ. զի տեսանէր ի տեսլեան սակաւ աւուրբք յառաջ քան զվախճանել կենաց նորա՝ տեղի խոշտանգանաց, եւ ի նմա վիհ գբոյ որ ամբաւ էր խորութեամբ, եւ ի բերան վհին կառուցեալ դուռն մի երկաթի:

36:2 God revealed the full recompense of the judgement to be meted out to him in the next life by means of one of His worthy servants, a certain priest. For (this priest) had a vision a few days before (the caliph’s) death in which he saw the place of his torments, a deep prison sealed off with an iron door:

36:3 Եւ ածեալ զնա երկուց զինուորաց՝ կացուցանէին առ բերան գբին, եւ ի բաց առնլով զկափարիչ վհին՝ տեսանէր զի ելանէր բոց վհին ի վեր մինչեւ յերկինս, յոր առեալ ընկեցին զգործունեայն չարի. եւ դարձեալ ի վերայ կափուցեալ զնոյն դուռն՝ ըմբռնէին զնա յելանելի կապանս ընդունել զարժանաւոր հատուցումն:

36:3 The caliph was brought to the mouth of the abyss by two soldiers who opened the door. And he saw flames shooting up to the sky. (The soldiers) took and hurled this malefactor down the stairs of the pit where he was trapped and received the punishment that he merited:

36:4 Զայսպիսի յայտնութիւն տեսլեան գուշակեալ վասն նորա, որ արդարեւ վայել էր ըստ չարութեան գնացից իւրոց զայնպիսի ընդունել հատուցումն յարդար դատողէն:

36:4 Such was the revelation of that vision about the fate which awaited him, judicious punishment for his wicked deeds by the righteous judge:
