38:0 About Alanozan who came to do battle with the Armenian king with [400000] troops, sent by the king of Iran; and how he too was defeated by Vasak:

38:1 Իսկ Աղանայոզանն, որ Պահլաւն էր ի տոհմէն արշակունեաց, որ նա խրոխտացեալ առաջի Շապհոյ թագաւորին Պարսից, եւ գնայր գայր հասանէր ի սահմանս Հայոց:

38:1 Then Aghanayozan who was a Pahlaw from the Arsacid tohm boasted before king Shapuh of Iran, and came to the borders of Armenia:

38:2 Ապա այս վաղագոյն ազգ լինէր թագաւորին Հայոց Արշակայ. սոյնպէս եւ սա զիւր զօրքն կազմէր ի ձեռն Վասակայ իւրոյ սպարապետին:

38:2 But this was quickly learned by king Arshak of Armenia. So, he too organized his own troops and entrusted them to his sparapet Vasak:

38:3 Եւ զամենայն նախարարսն Հայոց ընդ նմա գումարեալ, գայր հասանէր ընդ առաջ զօրացն Պարսից. հարկանէր կոտորէր զամենեսեան առ հասարակ, եւ զմնացեալսն փախստեայս առնէին յերկիրն Պարսից. եւ ինքեանք զգուշանային սահմանացն իւրեանց:

38:3 Assembling all of the Armenian naxarars with him, he came up in front of the Iranian troops. He struck and destroyed generally, and drove the survivors as fugitives to the country of Iran. And the Armenians guarded their borders:
