 42:0 Concerning Maruchan and his [600000] troops; how they came against king Arshak from the country of Iran, and how general Vasak destroyed them:

42:1 Մարիճան ոմն մեծ նախարար գայր մարտնչէր ընդ երկիրն Հայոց:

 42:1 Then a certain great naxarar named Marichan or, Mirichan (Maruchan), or Marich name, came to battle against the country of Armenia:

42:2 Ապա հանդերձ զօրօքն վաթսուն բիւրուն գայր հասանէր միջամբոխ լինէր յերկիրն Հայոց. եւ առաջնորդ ի ձեռին ունէր զՄերուժանն արծրունի:

 42:2 with [600000] thousand troops which filled up the country. His guide was Meruzhan Arcruni:

42:3 Ապա եւս պատահէր պատերազմաւ Վասակ ամենայն զօրօքն Հայոց. հարկանէր սատակէր զզօրսն Պարսից կորուսանէր, եւ զՄարուճանն սպանանէր:

 42:3 Once again Vasak went off to fight, taking along all the troops of Armenia. He struck and killed the Iranian troops, including Maruchan:
