52:0 Յաղագս Շապհոյ արքայի, թէ զիա՛րդ յայնմ ժամանակի լռեցոյց զպատերազմ տալ ընդ Արշակայ Հայոց թագաւորին, եւ մեղմեխանօք առ ինքն կոչէր ի հաշտութիւն:

52:0 The Iranian king for a time suspended warfare against Arshak the king of the Armenians while he treacherously summoned him to make peace:

52:1 Ապա Շապուհ արքայ Պարսից մեծաւ աղաչանօք եւ պատարագօք եւ հրովարտակօք եւ սիրով զԱրշակ առ ինքն կոչէր, զի յայնմ հետէ արասցեն ի մէջ իւրեանց սէր եւ խաղաղութիւն եւ բարեկամութիւն մեծ:

52:1 Then with great entreaties, gifts and hrovartaks, Shapuh, the king of Iran, summoned Arshak to him with affection so that thereafter they could make peace, great friendship and affection between themselves:

52:2 Իսկ Արշակ արքայ թէպէտ պատերազմ կամէր տալ, այլ ոչ կամէին յանձն առնուլ այսմիկ ամենայն զօրքն աշխարհին Հայոց:

52:2 Now although king Arshak wanted to make war, all of the troops of the land of Armenia did not consent:

52:3 Ապա թէ կամաւ կամաւ` թէ ոչ կամաւ, սակայն եդ սիրտ խոնարհութեամբ հրովարտակս առ Շապուհ արքայ Պարսից, որպէս վայելէ ծառայի առ տէր իւր, տալ:

52:3 So, willy-nilly, he took heart to send a hrovartak in humility to Shapuh, king of Iran, as suited a servant to his lord:

52:4 Եւ առաքէր յիւրմէ նմա պատարագս հաշտութեան:
|
52:4 And he sent him gifts of reconciliation:
