22:0 Յաղագս թագաւորին Պապայ, թէ զիա՛րդ էր լի դիւօք կամ ո՛րպէս վարէրն:

 22:0 Regarding King Pap, and how he was filled with demons and was unrighteous:

22:1 Այլ թագաւորն Պապ, զի մինչ դեռ տղայիկ` այն ինչ ծնեալ էր ի մօրէ իւրմէ` յայնժամ ձօնեաց զնա դիւաց անօրէն մայրն Փառանձեմ, եւ վասն այնորիկ լի էր դիւօք ի տղայութենէ իւրմէ:

 22:1 Now when king Pap was still a boy, a newborn baby, his impious mother, Paranjem, dedicated him to the dews:

22:2 Վասն զի հանապազ զկամս դիւաց առնէր, վասն այսորիկ եւ զբժշկութիւն իսկ ոչ կամէր գտանել. զի հանապազ վարէր զանձն իւր դիւօք, եւ կախարդանօք երեւէին դեւքն ի նմա. եւ ամենայն մարդ զդեւսն ի նմա աչօք բացօք տեսանէին:

 22:2 Consequently, he was full of dews from his boyhood. For he was always doing what the dews wanted, and did not even want to be healed. He behaved in accordance with the dews and through sorcery the dews appeared upon him. Everyone could see the dews with their own eyes:

22:3 Զի յորժամ մարդիկ հանապազօր յայգորել ելեալ մտանէին, տեսանէին` զի յօձից կերպարանս ելանէին ի ծոցոյն Պապայ թագաւորին, եւ պատէին զուսօք նորա. եւ ամենեքեան ոյք տեսանէին զնա, երկնչէին ի նմանէ եւ հուպ երթալ:

 22:3 Every day when people went to bid him good morning, they saw the forms of snakes arising from king Pap’s breasts, snakes which curled around his shoulders. Everyone saw them and were afraid to come close:

22:4 Իսկ նա պատասխանի տայր մարդկանն ասելով` թէ մի՛ երկնչիք, զի սոքա իմ են. եւ ամենայն մարդ յամենայն ժամ տեսանէին զայսպիսի ինչ կերպարանս ի նմա:

 22:4 But he would respond to the people, saying: “Don’t be afraid, they are mine.” And everyone constantly saw these forms about him:

22:5 Զի բազում համբարք դիւաց համբարեալ էին ի նմա. եւ յամենայն ժամ ամենայն մարդոյ երեւէր այս, որք գամ մի զթագաւորն տեսանէին. բայց յորժամ հայրապետն Ներսէս մտանէր առաջի նորա կամ սուրբ եպիսկոպոսն Խադ, դեւքն չերեւեալ աներեւոյթ լինէին:

 22:5 Many dews had put their nest in him, and they always appeared to the people who came to see the king. However, when the patriarch Nerses or the blessed bishop Xad came into his presence, the dews disappeared:

22:6 Եւ էր թագաւորն Պապ ի պղծութեան թաւալեալ. երբեմն այլոց էգ եղեալ, տայր զինքն ի խառնակութիւն. եւ երբեմն զայլս էգ արարեալ, զարուսն խառնակեալ պղծէր. եւ երբեմն ընդ անասունս խառնակէր:

 22:6 King Pap was also sunk in abomination. Sometimes he himself took the role of the woman and gave himself over to profanation; other times, he got other men to be the woman, and commited abomination with them. Sometimes he copulated with animals:

22:7 Եւ այսպէս դիւօք վարեալ, որք ի նմայն էին բնակեալ զամենայն աւուրս կենաց իւրոց:

 22:7 And thus, all the days of his life he was controlled by dews, which dwelled inside of him:
