16:0 Իսկ ապա յետ նորա Յազկերտ ոմն տիրեալ ամս [Զ], որ էր այր ժանտ. եւ մոլեկանութեամբ շարժեցեալ բազում չարեօք մարտնչէր ընդ ազգիս քրիստոնէից. քանզի յածեալ յայսոյն պղծութեան բռնութենէ՝ տայր հրաման փշրել եւ խորտակել զկենդանագրեալ պատկերս ճշմարիտ մարդեղութեան տեառն մերոյ եւ փրկչին եւ նորին աշակերտացն:

16:0 After (‘Umar) a certain Yazid (Yazkert) (Yazid) [II, 720-724] ruled for six years. He was a filthy man who wrought acts of fanatical cruelty toward our Christians. Motivated by an impure evil spirit, he ordered that the life-giving icon of the true incarnation of our Lord and Savior and his disciples be broken up and destroyed:

16:1 Խորտակէր եւ զնշան տէրունեան խաչին Քրիստոսի, զոր ուրեք ուրեք կանգնեալ էին յանուն ի պատճառս երկրպագութեան համագոյ Երրորդութեանն. քանզի յոյժ ստիպէր զնա մոլորութիւն այսոյն՝ ուս դնել եւ համբառնալ ընդ վիմին հաստատնոյ. վիմին ինչ ոչ կարէր ստնանել, բայց ինքն առ վիմին խորտակեցաւ:

16:1 Similarly he smashed the dominical crosses of Christ which had been erected in many places to aid in worshipping the Trinity. This was because the demon of fanaticism forced him to try to budge the rock of faith. As it happened he was unable to move that rock and instead was crushed by it:

16:2 Եւ ի գլուխ մոլորութեանն հասեալ՝ տայր հրաման խոզասպանութեան եւ ջնջէր յերկրէ զբազմութիւն անսուրբ անասնոցն արօտական խոզիցն, զի դարձեալ յայս շրջեալ փոխեաց զմիտս նորա մոլորութիւն այսոյն:

16:2 Having reached the apex of his fanaticism, he ordered the mass slaughter of pigs, which resulted in the obliteration of the bulk of herds of these unclean animals from the country. For once again fanaticism was roused in his mind by the demon:

16:3 Եւ ի կատարումն եկեալ՝ մերձենայր վախճան նորա, եւ այնպէս խեղդամահ սատակէր ի բռնութենէ այսոյն, զարժանաւորն ընկալեալ զդատաստան ի բոլորեցուն տեառնէն: Եւ այսպէս դառնութեամբ սատակէր ի կենաց:

16:3 When (Yazid) was approaching his demise and was close to death, the violence of that demon choked him and he perished. And thus did he receive a worthy judgement from the Lord of all, and thus did he perish bitterly:
