35:0 Յաղագս շարժմանն Չորրորդ Հայոց:

35:0 About the earthquake in the Fourth Armenia:

35:1 Ի սոյն ժամանակի, ի [ՆԽԴ] թուականին շարժեցաւ երկիր, բայց սաստկագոյն՝ աշխարհն Չորրորդ Հայոց, Հաշտեանք, Խորձեան, Ծոփք, Բալու եւ Պաղնատուն:

35:1 In [444=995] there was an earthquake, but to a stronger degree in the Fourth Armenia, in Hashteank, in Xorjean, Copk, in Balu and in Pakhnatun:

35:2 Եւ բոլորովին փլան շինուածք ամենայն՝ ի հիմանէ դղրդեալք ըստ գրեցելումն, թէ “Շարժէ զառ ի ներքոյս առ ի հիմանց, եւ սիւնք նորա դողան”, եւ կամ թէ “Ո հայի յերկիր եւ տայ դողալ սմա:

35:2 Every single building, shaken in its foundations, collapsed, as it is said in scripture: “the one who shakes the internal in their foundation and its pillars tremble”, or “who looks at the earth and makes it tremble:
|
35:3 Փոխանակ մարգարէիցն արար Աստուած որմոցն աղաղակել, եւ փոխանակ առաքելոցն լերինք ձայն արձակեցին, զի ծանիցեն եւ իմասցին անզգայքն զահաւոր զաւրութիւնն Աստծոյ. որք ոչ լուան ի լրոյ, զփորձ առցեն տեսութեամբ եւ չարչարանաւք անձանց:

35:3 Instead of the prophets, God made the walls speak, and instead of the apostles, the mountains raised their voices, so that the insensitive (people) would know and understand the terrible power of God, and that those who did not heed the voice (of God) could see with their own eyes and (learn) by their own sufferings:

35:4 Զի հերձան լերինք եւ պատառեցան վէմք, բացան աղբիւրք եւ ջուրք յանջրդին տեղիս, եւ ցամաքեցան ելք սովորական ջուրց. դաշտք ծածանէին, եւ լերինք որպէս թէ առ միմեանս խոնարհէին. ծխոյ նմանութեամբ՝ փոշւոյն ծառացելոյ զաւդսն լնոյր:

35:4 For the mountains cracked, the stones disintegrated, springs appeared in dry places, ordinary sources of water dried up. The plains wavered; the mountains seemed to lean toward each other; dust, like smoke, rising, filled the air with itself:

35:5 Եւ ամենայն շինուածք քաղաքաց, գիւղից եւ ագարակաց տապալեալ՝ զբնակիչսն ի ներքոյ առնէին՝ մեռեալս եւ կիսամեռս զնոսա առնելով, եւ մնացելոցն կենդանեաց ճիչք լալեաց եւ վայք ողբոց ի վեր բարձրանային:

35:5 In towns, villages and villages, the buildings, falling apart, covered the inhabitants under them, killing some to death, leaving others half dead. The wailing and wailing of the survivors resounded far away:

35:6 Եւ բերդն Բալու հանդերձ շինուածովքն եւ քարն եւս փլուզանիւր:

35:7 Խարխալեալ Ճապաղաջուր, բերդին Դկլաթայ, Աթթախայ եւ Ամթայ եւ ամենայն քարուկիր գեղեցկաշէն եկեղեցեաց եւ ապարանից:

35:7 The fortress of Capalajur, Tigris stronghold, Attax and Amida, as well as all the magnificent stone churches and palaces, were shaken:

35:8 Այս լինէր յամսեանն Քաղոց ի վերջնումն աւուր. եւ զայս ձեւ աւրինակի կացեալ ամիսս [Է], մինչեւ ցՆաւասարդ:

35:8 This happened on the last day of the month of Qaghotz and continued in this way for [7] months until Navasard:
