38:0 Թէ զիարդ քեռորդի Բատին ամիրայ եղեալ՝ հանէ ի Նփրկերտոյ զտաճիկ բնակիչսն. եւ մահ նորին յԱմիթ:

38:0 About the way in which the nephew (by sister) of Bat, becoming Amir, leads the Arabs out of Nprkert and about his death in Amida:

38:1 Իսկ քեռորդի Բատին Ապումսար ամիրայ եղեալ եւ ի Նփրկերտոյ կասկած երկիւղի կալեալ ի տաճիկ բնակչացն՝ հնարաւորի յաւուրս տաւնին իւրեանց, յորում զզենմունսն առնէին, յերեքն ամսոյն, որ Զլհեջէն կոչի ի նոցանէ, ասելով ցբնակիչս քաղաքին, թէ “Ամենայն արուք միաբան ելցեն արտաքոյ քաղաքիս կատարել զզենմունսն, վասն զի դեսպան մեծ է ի թագաւորէն Յունաց:

38:1 The nephew (by sister) of Bata, Apumsar, having become Amir and, fearing the inhabitants of Nprkert from the Arabs, resorted to the following trick: during their holiday, when they perform slaughter, (namely) the third day of the month, called by them Zlhejen, he ordered all the male residents to go out and perform slaughter outside the city, “because (he said) that a large embassy is expected from the Greek king:

38:2 Եւ յելանելն նոցա արտաքս քան զպարիսպն՝ զեղբայրն իւր զաւրաւք արտաքս հանեալ, եւ ինքն զդրունս պարսպին առեալ՝ զոմանս սրով սպանանէին եւ զայլսն ի բաց արձակեալ յուղարկէին, մինչեւ ոչ մնալ Տաճիկ ի Նփրկերտ. այլ Հայ եւ Ասորի բնակէր ի նմա:

38:2 When they all went beyond the city wall, Abumsar, having sent his brother with an army, occupied the city gates himself: some were put to the sword, others were released (to go wherever they wanted), so that not a single Arab remained in Nprkert; it was inhabited by (alone) Armenians and Syrians:

38:3 Իսկ Տաճիկն ցրուէր ի տեղիս տեղիս. յոլովք ի նոցանէ յԱմիթ երթային:

38:3 Meanwhile, the Arabs scattered in different places: many of them went to Amida:

38:4 Եւ բնակիչք քաղաքին Ամթայ քինախնդիր այնմ եղեալ՝ կոչեն զամիրայն խաբկանաւք ի քաղաքն. եւ ի մտանել նորա ընդ դուռն քաղաքին՝ նիզակաւ հարեալ սպանին զնա:

38:4 The inhabitants of the city of Amida, wanting to avenge this, deceived the Amir, who was pierced with a spear and killed at the very time when he entered the city gates:
