19:0 Յաղագս թէ զիա՛րդ անմտութեամբ գնայր ի սպանութիւնս նախարարացն յանխնայ Արշակ արքայ Հայոց:

19:0 How Arshak, king of Armenia, senselessly and indisciminately moved to kill the naxarars:

19:1 Այլ ահա ի ժամանակին` յորժամ մերժեցաւ յարքունական բանակէն սուրբ եպիսկոպոսապետն Ներսէս, եւ ոչ ոք գոյր ընդդիմացեալ թագաւորին` որ տայր նմա զյանդիմանութեան զխրատն, այնուհետեւ ըստ կամաց չարութեանն իւրոյ գնացեալ լինէր նա. եւ զբազումս ի նախարարացն կոտորեաց, զբազումս ազգատ արարեալ անճիտեաց, եւ զբազմաց տունս հատանէր յարքունիս:

19:1 Now when the blessed archbishop Nerses had quit the royal banak, there was no one to reproach the king or give him contrary counsel, and so Arshak went along according to his evil wishes. He destroyed many of the naxarars, extirpated many azgs, and confiscated many tuns for the court:

19:2 Բայց զտոհմս կամսարականացն` որ էին գաւառաց տեարք, Շիրակայ եւ Արշարունեաց, ազգատ առնէր, եւ զգաւառսն ունէր յոստան:

19:2 He extirpated the tohms of the Kamsarakans who were the lords of districts, of Shirak and Arsharunik, and he made their districts ostan:

19:3 Բայց յազգէն յայնմանէ մանկիկ մի փոքրիկ, անուն Սպանդարատ, թագուցեալ ապրեցուցանէր սպարապետն զօրավարն Հայոց Վասակ, որ յետոյ լինէր ժառանգ աշխարհին:

19:3 However, the general of Armenia, the sparapet Vasak concealed and saved a tiny child from that azg, named Spandarat, who subsequently became the inheritor of their land:

19:4 Թագաւորն Արշակ հրաման տայր` յԱրշարունեաց գաւառին շինել իւր բերդ մի ամուր, Արտագերս անուն:

19:4 King Arshak ordered that a secure fortress be constructed for him in the district of Arsharunik, a fortress named Artagers:

19:5 Եւ զգաւառն յուտեստ ի պատրաստութիւն համբարաց թողոյր բերդին, վասն զի կարի ամուր էր բերդն այն:

19:5 And he laid in store victuals in preparation for the district in the fortress, since that fortress was extremely secure:
