15:0 Յաղագս որդւոցն Յուսկան, եթէ ո՛րպէս ընթադրեալ առ ոտն հարին զմեծ քահանայութեան զԱստուծոյ զպատիւն:

15:0 The sons of Yusik, and how they trampled the dignity of the great chief-priest of God:

15:1 Ապա խորհուրդ արարին մատուցանել զորդի սրբոյն Յուսկան ի քահանայութիւն հարցն վարդապետութեանն:
|
15:1 They then decided to place the sons of the blessed Yusik in the vardapetal priesthood of their fathers:
|
15:2 Ապա առանց իւրեանց կամացն ըմբռնեցան, եւ բռնաբարեցան ի միաբանութեան եպիսկոպոսացն. զի կալեալք, ակամայ առեալք զձեռնադրութիւն սարկաւագութեան` հարկեցան Պապն եւ Աթանագենէս:

15:2 Against their will they forcibly seized them on the wishes of the bishops. They were involuntarily obliged to accept ordination as deacons, both Pap and Atanagines:

15:3 Որոց ընդ ոտն հարեալք զաւանդն հոգեւորն պատուի, անձամբ զանձինս իւրեանց, խտորատուր յարուեստն զինուորութեանն զինեցան, եւ յերկիր կործանեցան:

15:3 They cast the spiritual dignity to the ground, dressing in military style, and were destroyed:

15:4 Եւ ընտրեցին զերկրաւոր կեանս, եւ առին եւս իւրեանց կանայս զքորս թագաւորին, եւ մերժեցին զանձինս իւրեանց ի ժառանգութենէ Աստուծոյ:

15:4 They chose the life of this world, taking as wives the king’s sisters, and were rejected from the inheritance of God:

15:5 Բայց անուանք կանանց նոցա, անուն կնոջն Պապայ` Վարազդուխտ, նոքա անորդիք անզաւակ ելին յաշխարհէ. անուն կնոջն Աթանագենի` Բամբիշն. ի սոցանէ ծնաւ այր սքանչելի եւ զարմանալի Ներսէս, որ առ յապայն եկաց քահանայապետ:

15:5 The wife of Pap was named Varazduxt. This couple died without bearing sons. Atanagines’ wife was named Bambish. This couple bore the marvelous and wonderful man Nerses, who subsequently became the chief-priest:

15:6 Բայց յայնմ ժամանակի ոչ ոք գոյր, որ առաջնորդէր նոցա զքահանայապետութիւնն:

15:6 But in that period there still was no one to direct the chief-priesthood for them:
|
15:7 Ապա խորհուրդ արարին` թէ զո՛ գտցեն իւրեանց առաջնորդ. ապա կամ եղեւ ամենեցուն առ հասարակ, զի ի նմին տանէ իշխանութեանն Գրիգորի գտցեն, որ կալցի նա զաթոռ հարցն:

15:7 So, they took counsel to decide who they could find to be their leader. They all resolved that such an individual should be selected from the same tun of the authority of Gregory, and that he should hold the throne of his fathers:
