34:1 Յայսմ ժամանակի ամիրայն Եգիպտացւոց, որ ի Բաբելոն, Ազազ անուն՝ զաւրաւք բազմաւք առաքէ ի վերայ քաղաքին Հալպայ եւ ի կողմանս Անտիոքացւոց:

34:1 At this time, the Amir of Egypt, in Babylon, named Azaz, sent a large army to the city of Alep and to the countries of Antioch:

34:2 Որոց ընդդէմ երթեալ Ռոմանոս մաժիստռոսն՝ որդի Սիկլառոսին, սակաւ զաւրաւք եւ ոչ կարացեալ պատերազմել՝ ամրանայ ի կողմանս լերանցն:

34:2 Master Romanos, the son of Skleros, came out to meet him with a small detachment and, not being able to give battle, (was forced) to sit down in impregnable mountainous places:

34:3 Եւ նոցա զսակաւ տեղիս յաւարի առեալ՝ դառնան յԵգիպտոս:

34:4 Եւ զկնի երկրորդ ամի նոյն ամիրայն զամենայն մախրարապին եւ զզաւրսն Երուսաղէմի եւ Լիբէացւոց առաքէ յաշխարհն Յունաց ի նոյն կողմանս Անտիոքու:

34:4 Two years later, the same Amir sent all the troops of Arabia, Jerusalem and Libya to the Greek land in the same countries of Antioch:

34:5 Որոց ընդդէմ երթեալ Բուռճն մաժիստռոսն, հրամանաւ թագաւորին Վասլի ի [ՆԽԳ] թուականին, պատերազմի ի Բուրզոյ դաշտին եւ պարտեալ ի նոցանէ՝ ի փախուստ դառնայ:

34:5 Master Burchn came out to meet them on the orders of King Basil in [443=994] and, having entered the battle, gave battle on the Burz plain, was defeated and fled:

34:6 Որոց հետամուտ եղեալ զաւրն Տաճկաց՝ զբազումս սրախողխող առնէին եւ զյոլովս ձերբակալ, որպէս զԺանակ պատրիկ՝ որդի Խաւռասայ, եւ զԹորոս բարեպաշտ եւ աստուածասէր ի գաւառէն Հաշտենից եւ զայլս յաշխարհէն Հայոց յազատաց:

34:6 The army of Arabs pursued him, put many to the sword, took many prisoners, including the son of Xoras, Patrick Zanak, the pious and God-loving Toros from the Hasteank district, and many other Armenian nobles:

34:7 Զայս լուեալ թագաւորն Յունաց՝ ինքնին զաւրաւք բազմաւք անդր հասանէր. եւ Եգիպտացւոցն զգացեալ զգալուստ թագաւորին, զաղխս բանակին իւրեանց ի գիշերի հրով տոչորեալ՝ եւ ինքեանք փախստեայ գնացին յաշխարհն իւրեանց:

34:7 When the Greek king found out about this, he personally came to that place with the troops. The Egyptians, informed of the coming of the king, set fire to all their belongings at night and hastened to leave for their own land:

34:8 Եւ թագաւորին անցեալ յաշխարհն նոցա՝ զբազում գաւառս յաւարի առեալ եւ յեզր ծովուն մեծի քաղաք շինեալ՝ յամրութիւն զաւրաց իւրոց, եւ ինքն դարձաւ անդրէն ի Կոստանդնուպոլիս փութանակի:

34:8 The king, passing through their land, plundered many of their districts and built a city on the shores of the great sea to protect his army and soon returned to Constantinople:
