12:1 Իսկ իբրեւ զչափ առեալ զիրացն հաստատութեան, եւ համարձակագոյն եւ առաւելագոյն զաշակերտութիւնն նորագիւտ վարդապետութեանն խմբէին ուսուցանել եւ թեքել, եւ պատրաստական քարոզութեանն անգէտ մարդկան յաւրինել:

12:1 And as they became certain that things were firmly established, they were emboldened even more in gathering more pupils for the newly discovered learning, so as to instruct, educate, and train for preaching illiterate men:

12:2 Որոց եւ ինքեանք իսկ ի կողմանց եւ ի գաւառաց Հայաստան աշխարհին յորդեալք եւ դրդեալք հասանէին ի բացեալ աղբիւրն գիտութեանն Աստուծոյ:

12:2 On their part they arose and came in large numbers from all parts and districts of Armenia to the newly opened fountain of divine knowledge:

12:3 Քանզի յԱյրարատեան գաւառին՝ ի կայս թագաւորացն եւ քահանայապետացն, բղխեցին Հայոց շնորհք պատուիրանացն Աստուծոյ: Անդ էր յիշելի եւ մարգարէականն, եթէ՝ «Եղիցի անդ աղբիւր բղխեալ ի տան Դաւթի:

12:3 For in the districts of Ayrarat at the seat of kings and patriarchs, there gushed forth for the Armenians a grace of God’s commandments. Here it is needful to recall the words of the Prophet: “And there shall spring a fountain in the House of David:

12:4 Որ եւ սկսան իսկ սիւնք եկեղեցւոյ միջամուխ ձեռամբ զգործ աւետարանչացն Քրիստոսի գործել, գումարել ի կողմանս. ի գաւառս, ի տեղիս տեղիս Հայաստան ազգին, դասս դասս զաշակերտեալսն ճշմարտութեանն, զհասուցելոցս ի կատարումն գիտութեան, բաւականս եւ առ ի զայլսն զեկուցանելոյ:

12:4 And truly the two pillars of the Church boldly assumed the task of preaching Christ by sending to different parts and districts of Armenia their apostles of truth, deeming those of us who had completed their training as qualified to teach others:

12:5 Որոց կանոն եւ աւրինակ զիւրեանց անձանց արգասիս եղեալ, եւ պատուիրեալ կալ ի նմին կանոնի:

12:5 To them they offered their own labors as examples and guide rules, bidding them to stay within those rules:
|
12:6 Եւ իւրեանց անդէն զի առընթերակաց արքունիսն, հանդերձ ամենայն ազատագունդ բանակիւն, աստուածեղէն իմաստութեամբն վարդապետեալ:

12:6 And by their God-given wisdom they instructed nearby the royal court together with the entire national army:
|
12:7 Առաւել երանելւոյն Սահակայ զՄամիկոնեան որեարն ի վարժս վարդապետութեանն պարապեցուցեալ, որոց առաջնոյն Վարդան անուն էր, որ եւ Վարդկան կոչէր:

12:7 Moreover, blessed Sahak instructed especially the men of the Mamikonians, foremost of whom was named Vardan, who was also called Vardkan:

12:8 Նոյնպէս եւ զամենայն ոգի ջանայր յերիւրել, հասուցանել ի գիտութիւն ճշմարտութեան:
|
12:8 Likewise, he strove to instruct everyone and to impart the knowledge of the truth:
