20:0 Կոմիանոս, քանզի առատաձեռն էր եւ գանձիւք հարուստ, բազում զօրս ժողովեաց իւր։ Թագաւորն իբրեւ ետես եթէ պատեհութիւնքն նմա ի դէպ գան եւ ելանեն, յաղերս անկեալ՝ սկսաւ դեսպանս առաքել. պարգեւս խոստանայր եւ զԿիւրապաղատին իշխանութիւնն յարեւելս տալ նմա՝ Միայն թէ ի խաղաղութիւն դառնաս, որ քրիստոնէից արեանն խնդիր առնեմք. այլ նա ոչ հաւատաց եւ ոչ առ յանձն:

20:0 Comnenus (Komianos), since he was generous and quite wealthy, assembled about himself many troops. Now when the Emperor (Michael [VI], Stratioticus) saw that conditions seemed favorable to Comnenus, he beseeched him, and started sending emissaries to him, promising him gifts and the authority of Curopalate of the East, if only, he said, (Comnenus) remain at peace, and together with himself avenge the blood of the Christians slain by the Turks:

20:1 Ապա ի սպառիլ դեսպանացն, որ թագաւորին էին մտերիմք ջանային պատերազմի յաղթութեամբ հնազանդեցուցանել զնա:

20:1 But (Comnenus) did not believe this, and did not accept. When nothing was accomplished by the emissaries, the emperor’s intimates attempted to subdue (Comnenus) by warfare:

20:2 Եւ հանդէս արարեալ բազում զօրաց՝ եկին ի վերայ նորա, եւ հասեալք առ միմեանս՝ ճակատեցան ի պատերազմ. ուր բազում արիւնհեղութիւնք եղեն, զորոց ասեն եթէ այնպիսի կոտորած ի մի տեղի ի Հոռոմս չէ ոք տեսեալ. յորում տեղւոջ եւ բազումք ի գլխաւորացն իսկ անկան, եւ այս յերկոցունց կողմանցն. բայց յաղթեաց զօրէ Կոմիանոսին:

20:2 Mustering many troops, they went against him. The two adversaries met and clashed. There was so much blood shed that people said that such carnage in one place had not occurred before in Byzantium. On the battleground even many of the principals fell, from both sides. But Comnenus’ troops were victorious. And since the patriarch was on Comnenus’ side, many of the principals of the city united with him:

20:3 Եւ քանզի պատրիարքն ի կողմն Կոմիանոսին էր, զբազումս ի գլխաւորաց քաղաքին միաբանեաց ընդ ինքեան. եւ տարեալ ի ներքս զԿոմիանոս, թագաւորեցուցին։ Եւ զՄիխայիլն աբեղայ արարեալ, ի կղզի անցուցին. բայց ասեն թէ ինքն յօժարութեամբ չոգաւ։ Այս ամենայն յաշխարհաւեր տարւոջս գործեցաւ:
