9:0 Իսկ յետ ժամանակի ինչ անցելոյ` բերեալ ատելութիւն նախարարացն Հայոց, որ ընդ Պարսից իշխանութեամբն էին, ընդ թագաւորին իւրեանց Խոսրովու, - վասն երթալոյ տակաւին ի նուազումն թագաւորութեան յազգէն Արշակունեաց, յաղագս առաւելեալ ի նոսա գործոց իւրեանց չարաց, ըստ բանից սուրբ քահանայապետիցն առաջնոց եւ այլոց եւս բազում առաքինի արանց, որք անլուռ բերանով բողոք բարձեալ յանդիմանէին զանարժան գործս նոցա եւ զմատնումն ընդ լծով խիստ եւ անաւրէն ծառայութեանն Պարսից:

 9:0 After some time had passed, those Armenian naxarars who were under Iranian lordship displayed their hatred toward their king Xosrov. (This was done) in order to further weaken the rule of the Arsacid line. Because of their increasingly wicked deeds (which the blessed patriarchs of the past had mentioned, as did numerous other virtuous men, badly complaining about and reproaching their unworthy actions and the betrayal to the burden of severe and impious service of the Iranians:

9:1 եւ նախագոյն բարբառէին, - երթեալ այնուհետեւ առնէին բանսարկութիւնս առ Շապուհ արքայն Պարսից, եթէ «Խոսրով զինքն կարծեցուցանէ քեզ սիրելի եւ հնազանդ, եւ այս ամենայն ցուցականութիւն նորա առ քեզ` ստութեամբ եւ ոչ ստուգութեամբ. վասն զի գաղտ ուխտ իւր եւ խորհուրդ ընդ թագաւորին Յունաց է, եւ միշտ հրովարտակաւք եւ երթեւեկ պատգամաւորաւք խաւսի ընդ նմա ի խաղաղութիւն:

 9:1 the naxarars went to the Iranian king, Shapuh, complaining that “Xosrov gives you to think that he likes and is loyal to you, but all his displays are false and fraudulent. For he has a secret oath and counsel with the Byzantine emperor, and is always discussing peace with him by means of hrovartaks and messengers:

9:2 Բայց դուք որպէս իմանայք հատուցանել նմա ըստ նորա խաբէութեանն` զայն դուք ոչ իշխէք:

 9:2 But would you, if you knew the extent of his deception, dare to requite him accordingly:

9:3 Եւ կարծէին բանսարկուքն ըստ իւրեանց անմիտ խորհրդոցն` կորուսանել զնա, եւ անձանց եւ աշխարհի բարւոյ իմիք շինութեան լինել պատճառ. եւ ոչ գիտէին, եթէ տակաւին ի մաշումն եւ ի չար ծառայութիւն վասն մեղաց իւրեանց մատնեալ լինին յԱստուծոյ:

 9:3 In their stupidity, these slanderers hoped to destroy (Xosrov) and to be the cause of personal gain as well as cultivation of the land. But they did not know that because of their sins God had condemned them to suffer yet longer and had betrayed them to an evil servitude:

9:4 Իսկ զայն լուեալ խնդութեամբ եւ ախորժակ ունկնդրութեամբ Շապհոյ արքային Պարսից` հրաման տայր վաղվաղակի հրովարտակաւ զԽոսրով ի դուռն կոչել. եւ նորա չզգացեալ զբանսարկութիւն իշխանացն Հայոց՝ վաղվաղակի որպէս առ իւր իշխան եւ բարեկամ ի դուռն հասանէր:

 9:4 The Iranian king Shapuh heard this (complaint) with great delight and eagerness. He ordered that Xosrov be quickly summoned to court by a hrovartak. Knowing nothing about the accusation of the Armenian princes, (Xosrov) hurriedly went to court, as if going to his prince and friend:

9:5 Եւ Շապհոյ թշնամանեալ զնա պատուհասէր, այլ թերեւս եւ վասն յաւժարութեամբ մերժելոյ զնա ի թագաւորութենէն, եւ ոչ յանդիման կամեցեալ առնել զնա չարախաւսացն` վաղվաղակի մերժեալ ընկենոյր զԽոսրով յիշխանութենէ իւրոյ թագաւորութեանն, եւ ուխտէր` այլ եւս ոչ տեսանել զաշխարհն Հայոց, անդէն կալեալ յաշխարհին Պարսից պահէր:

 9:5 Shapuh inimically threatened him. Perhaps it was because there was such enthusiasm for deposing (Xosrov) that (Shapuh) did not want to confront him with his accusers. Rather, (Shapuh) quickly stripped Xosrov of the authority of his realm, vowed that he would never again see the land of Armenia, and kept him there in Iran:

9:6 Իսկ իբրեւ մերժեալ լինէր Խոսրով ի թագաւորութենէն` խնդրէին Հայք ընդ Շապուհ` ա՛յլ թագաւոր իւրեանց. եւ նա հաւանեալ թագաւորեցուցանէր նոցա զՎռամշապուհ զեղբայր նորին Խոսրովու, յազգէն Արշակունեաց. եւ թագաւորեցուցեալ զՎռամշապուհ` արձակէր ի Հայս:

 9:6 Now as soon as Xosrov was denied the kingdom, the Armenians requested another king of their own from Shapuh. Agreeing, (Shapuh) enthroned Vrhamshapuh, Xosrov’s brother, of the Arsacid line, and dispatched him to Armenia:
