22:0 Թագաւորացն առաջնոց, որ նախ քան զիս իմ նախնիքն էին եւ զայս թագաւորական գահ ունէին, ոչ գիտեմ եթէ յաղագս այլ ինչ մեծ անպարապութեանց, եւ թէ չխորհելով զայսպիսի ծանր եւ կարեւոր պէտս` չհոգացան իրացս:

 22:0 Former kings, who were my ancestors and occupied this royal throne—either because they were not at leisure or, because they did not think about such weighty and important affairs, I know not which—did not concern themselves with these matters:

22:1 Իսկ իմ զմտաւ ածեալ, ի մոգուցն եւ յայլ իմաստուն եւ յաւագ մարդկանէ Արեաց աշխարհիս տեղեկացեալ, թէ որ միանգամ ընդ իշխանութեամբ մերոյ թագաւորութեանս են, որպէս աւգտիւք եւ այլ հպատակութեամբ վայելեմք ի նոցանէ` եւս առաւել պարտիմք ընդ փրկութիւն եւ ընդ գիւտ ամենեցուն հոգւոց հոգալ եւ գտանել. եւ եթէ յանկարծ ծուլացեալ գտանիմք յայսպիսի մեծ հոգողութենէ` տեղեկացաք յաւրինաց մերոց, թէ ծանր պատուհաս կրելոց եմք յաստուածոցն:

 22:1 But now, informed by the mages and other wise and senior men of the land of the Aryans, I am thinking that just as we enjoy the benefits and other service from those people under the authority of our kingdom we are therefore even more obliged to show concern for and find salvation for everyone’s souls. Our faith informs us that we will suffer heavy punishment from the gods should we be found indifferent with regard to this great trust:

22:2 Արդ` եթէ մեք պատուհասիմք վասն չբողոքելոյ ումեք ի ձէնջ` ձեզ առաւել աւելի եւս արժանի է երկնչել, թէ հեղգայք ինչ յիւրաքանչիւր հոգւոյ աւգտէ, զի ի մէնջ պատուհասիք եւ յաստուածոց:

 22:2 Now if we are to be punished for not demanding a certain thing from you, you should be even more frightened about laziness regarding the benefits to each person’s soul, because (in that case) you will be punished both by us, and by the gods:

22:3 Վասն որոյ եւ զաւրէնս մեր զստոյգ եւ զարդար գրեցաք եւ տուաք բերել առ ձեզ. եւ կամիմք, եթէ որպէս դուք աւգտակար աշխարհ էք եւ մեր սիրելի` զմեր արդեաւք զարդար եւ զկշիռ աւրէնս ուսանէիք եւ ունէիք, եւ չպաշտէիք զայնպիսի աւրէնս, որ ամենեցուն մեզ յայտնի են, թէ սուտ են եւ անաւգուտ:

 22:3 Accordingly, we have had our correct and just faith written down, and brought to you. As you are a useful land and beloved by us, we want you to study our just and balanced faith and to hold it, and not to worship the faith which we all clearly know is false and without benefit:

22:4 Արդ` լուեալ ձեր զմեր հրամանսդ` կամաւ եւ սիրով յանձն առէք, եւ բնաւ ամենեւիմբ զմիտս ընդ այլ ինչ մի՛ տանիք:

 22:4 Now, having heard our command, implement it willingly and gladly and do not even think of doing otherwise:

22:5 Այլ եւ այս կամ եղեւ մեզ, զի եւ զկարծեցեալ զձեր աւրէնսդ առ մեզ գրել հրամայեցաք ձեզ, եթէ ո՛րպէս կորուսեալ էիք մինչեւ ցայսաւր:

 22:5 We also want and are ordering you to write us (the principles) of your so-called faith so that (we can see) how lost you have been till today:

22:6 Եւ յորժամ դուք իբրեւ զմեզ ճանաչողք ճշմարիտ մեր աւրինացս լինիք` Վիրք եւ Աղուանք ըստ մեր եւ ձեր կամս չիշխեն ելանել:

 22:6 And when, as we, you become people who recognize our true faith, then the Iberians and Aghbanians (Aghuans) will not dare to stray from what we and you want:
