60:0 Եւ կեցեալ Յազկերտի թագաւորին Պարսից զչափ ժամանակի կենաց իւրոց` վախճանէր ի Փառսսում:

60:0 King Yazkert of Iran lived out the remainder of his life and died in P’arhssum:

60:1 Եւ թագաւորեցին նորա երկու որդիքն, հակառակելով ընդ միմեանս. եւ դիմեալք ի վերայ միմեանց պատերազմաւ` յաղթահարեալ սպան կրսերն զաւագն եւ ինքն թագաւորեաց, որում անունն էր Պերոզ:

60:1 After him, his two sons (Hormizd [III] and Peroz) reigned, but they were at odds with each other. Going against each other in battle, the younger one killed the older one, and ruled himself. His name was Peroz:

60:2 Եւ ի նմին ամի թագաւորութեանն իւրոյ առաքեաց զՅըզատվշնասպ զիւր դայեկորդին, զոր կարի յոյժ սիրէր առաւելապէս, եւ հրաման ետ արձակել զնախարարսն Հայոց ի կապանաց եւ կարգել նոցա ռոճիկ ի Հրեւ. «Կայցեն, ասէ, անդէն այրուձիով եւ կատարեսցեն զգործ` որ ինչ եւ դիցէ նոցա Աշտատ հայրն Յըզատվշնասպայ:

60:2 In the same year of his reign [A.D. 459] (Peroz) dispatched Yazatvshnasp, the son of his dayeak whom he was especially fond of, and commanded that the Armenian naxarars be freed from bondage and that stipends be allocated for them at Hrew. He note: “Let them remain there with the cavalry and do whatever work Yazatvshnasp’s father, Ashtat, says and can observe them doing:

60:3 Եւ եկեալ Յըզատվշնասպն` ետ նոցա աւետիս ասելով, եթէ «Արքայից արքայ զմահապարտութիւնն եթող ձեզ, եւ ի կապանացդ հրամայեաց արձակել, եւ կարգեաց ձեզ ռոճիկ ի Հրեւ, եւ կանանց ձերոց յաշխարհի իւրեանց. եւ ձեզ հրաման ետ կալ ի գործ արքունի, եւ լսել ամենայն բանի եւ կատարել` զոր հայր իմ Աշտատ հրամայէ ձեզ:

60:3 Yazatvshnasp arrived and gave them good news, saying: “The king of kings has forgiven your death-penalty, and has ordered you freed from your shackles. He has stipulated stipends for you at Hrew, and for your women, in your own land. He has ordered you to do work for the court, to listen to and obey everything that my father, Ashtat, orders you:

60:4 Եւ լուեալ նախարարացն Հայոց զայս ամենայն բանս Յըզատվշնասպայ` ետուն փառս Աստուծոյ, հոգողին իւրեանց եւ բարերարի. յորմէ եւ կատարելապէս եւ այլ բարւոյ, բարեխաւսութեամբ նշխարաց սրբոցն, սպասէին երկայնմտութեամբ:

60:4 When the Armenian naxarars heard all of Yazatvshnasp’s words, they glorified God, Who cared about their souls and was their benefactor, and from Whom they with patience awaited yet other benefits, through the intercession of the remains of the saints:

60:5 Եւ ի տեսանել զնախարարսն Հայոց Յըզատվշնասպայ եւ առ սակաւ սակաւ ընդելնուլ ընդ նոսա` շնորհեցաւ որպէս յաստուածայինն ակնարկութենէն, խնամարկեալ սիրեաց զԿամսարականն Արշաւիր ըստ սիրոյն Յովնաթանայ զԴաւիթ. յաղագս եւ այլոց նախարարացն Հայոց հոգայր բարեխաւսութեամբ հանապազ:

60:5 When Yazatvshnasp saw the Armenian naxarars and gradually became familiar with them, he received them as if a God-given blessing, and (especially) liked Arshawir Kamsarakan, the way Johnathan liked David, and was always interceding favorably for the other Armenian naxarars as well:

60:6 Տարեալ այնուհետեւ զնախարարսն Հայոց ի Հրեւ, եւ կարգեալ իւրաքանչիւր ումեք ռոճիկս` գումարէին զնոսա ի ձեռն Աշտատայ, ունել զնոսա ի գործ պատերազմի:

60:6 Then the Armenian naxarars were taken to Hrew and a stipend was allocated for each one of them. They were assembled under the care of Ashtat who put them into military service:

60:7 Զորս մեծարեալ յարգեաց Աստուած առաջի զաւրագլխի գնդին` յաջողելով նոցա քաջութիւն երեւելապէս, այլ եւ առաջի ամենայն քաղաքացեացն Հրեւայ եւ գաւառին` շնորհելով աջոյ Բարձրելոյն բազում եւ ազգի ազգի բժշկութիւնս ախտաժետաց ի նշխարաց սրբոցն, զոր ունէին քահանայքն որ առ նոսա էին` գաղտ առ ինքեանս. վասն որոյ հռչակեալ անուանեցան ի զաւրագլխէն եւ յամենայն գաւառին` քաջք եւ զարմանալիք:

60:7 God exalted them before the military commander of the brigade, clearly showing him their bravery and (also showing this) to all the citizens of Hrew and of the district. Furthermore, thanks to the right hand of God on High, many diverse types of medical healings were accomplished by the remains of the saints which the priests who were with them were secretly keeping. As a result, they earned the reputation of brave and miraculous men from the military commander and from the entire district:

60:8 Եւ իշխանն Հրեւայ Հրեւշնոմշապուհ սիրէր զկապեալսն Հայոց յոյժ, եւ զքաջութիւն նոցա եւ զլաւ բարս եւ զմարթչութիւնն բազում անգամ գրով ծանուցանէր մեծամեծացն ի դուռն եւ իւրոց սիրելեացն որք ի հրապարակին էին:

60:8 The prince of Hrew, Hrew-shnomshapuh, greatly liked the captive Armenians and frequently wrote to the grandees at court and to their friends in the assembly about their bravery, good behavior and ability:
