 25:0 Vstam’s attack into Asorestan against Khosrov and his death en route through the treachery of Pariovk, king of the K’ushans. The scattering of Vstam’s army. The battle of the marzpan Smbat with the (people of) Gełum and his defeat:

25:1 Եւ եղեւ ի ժամանակին յայնմիկ նուաճեալ ընդ ինքեան Վստամայ զերկոսին թագաւորսն Քուշանաց, զՇաւկն եւ զՊարիովկն. եւ գումարեալ զամենայն զաւրսն կողմանց Արեւելից՝ դիմեաց գնաց յԱսորեստան զաւրու մեծաւ եւ հզաւր յոյժ, զի սպանցէ զԽոսրով եւ առցէ յինքն զթագաւորութիւն նորա: Եւ զաւրք նորա կային յաջմէ եւ յահեկէ բացագոյն ի նմանէ. եւ արքայն Քուշանաց Պարիովկն ի թիկունս նորա զկնի նորա:

 25:1 It happened at that time that Vstam subjected to himself the two kings of the K’ushans, Shawk and Pariovk. Assembling all the troops of the regions of the east, he attacked Asorestan with a large and powerful army in order to kill Khosrov and seize his kingdom for himself. His forces were (posted) to right and left at a distance from him; and the king of the K’ushans, Pariovk, was in support behind him:

25:2 Յայնժամ արկեալ ի միտս իւր նենգաւոր արքային Քուշանաց՝ երթեալ անցանէր զառաջեաւ նորա սակաւ արամբք, եւ իջեալ յերիվարէն երկիր պագանէր ի վերայ երեսաց իւրոց եւթն անգամ: Եւ մատուցեալ սա յառաջ՝ հրամայեաց հեծանել անդրէն յերիվարն իւր: Եւ դարան գործեալ էր նմա ի ճանապարհի: Ասէ ցնա Պարիովկն. «Հրամայեա արձակել ի քէն զամբոխդ, զի խաւսեցայց ինչ ընդ արքայի բանս ինչ խորհրդեան:

 25:2 Then the king of the K’ushans planned treachery. He came in front of him with a few men, and dismounting from his horse he did obeisance on his face seven times. The other came forward and ordered him to mount his horse again. But he had laid a trap for him on the road. Pariovk said to him: ’Bid your retinue withdraw from you, so that I many speak some words of counsel with the king. ’:

25:3 Որոյ ոչ զգացեալ զնենգութիւն նորա՝ հրամայեաց մարդկանն երթալ յինքենէ: Եւ եղեւ մինչդեռ երթային նոքա զճանապարհն եւ խաւսէին՝ ելին յանկարծակի դարանակալքն ի տեղւոջէն իւրեանց, եւ հարեալ սպանին զՎստամ: Եւ ժամադիր լեալ զաւրացն իւրոց Պարիովկն՝ ազդ առնէր նոցա փութանակի, եւ նոցա զհետ արշաւեալ հասանէին եւ կալեալ զկին Վստամայ եւ զամենայն աղխ եւ զկարասի նորա՝ դարձան փութանակի եւ գնացին:

 25:3 He did not perceive his treachery, so commanded his men to go away from him. While they were proceeding along the road talking, suddenly those in ambush emerged from their places, struck Vstam and killed him. Pariovk, meeting his troops as arranged, immediately informed them. They rode in pursuit, came up and seized Vstam’s wife and all his baggage and goods, then rapidly turned back and departed:

25:4 Անագան ուրեմն եւ ապա յետ աւուրց ինչ անցելոց ազդ լինէր ամենայն զաւրացն. եւ նոքա լքեալ քակտեցան ի միմեանց, եւ մեկնեալ գնացին յիւրաքանչիւր ի տեղիս: Գնացին նոյնպէս եւ զաւրն Գեղումն որ ընդ նմա, եկեալ հասեալ փութանակի յամուրս աշխարհին իւրեանց, եւ արքն այն հայաստանեայք, որ ապստամբեալ էին ի Սպահան եւ գնացեալք առ Վստամ՝ ընդ նոսա: Իբրեւ գնացին նոքա յերկիրն որ կոչի Կոմշ, որ կայ անդրէն ի թիկանց Վրկանի, յայնմ կողմանէ սարոյն, որ անցանէ ընդ մէջ նոցա, եւ հասին ի գեւղն, որ կոչի Խեկեւանդ՝ ընդդէմ ելանէր նոցա Շահր Վահրիճ, եւ Սմբատ Գուրկան մարզպան հանդերձ բազմաւ:

 25:4 Later, after some days had passed, the news reached all the troops. They were discouraged, lost their mutual solidarity, and went off each to his own place. In like manner the Gełum army that was accompanying him went straightaway to the strongholds of their own land. Those Armenian men who had rebelled in Ispahan and joined Vstam, went with them. When they had reached the land called Komsh, which lies behind Vrkan on the far side of the range which crosses it, and had come to the village called Khekewand, they were opposed by Shahr Vahrich and Smbat, marzpan of Gurkan, with a large force:

25:5 Եւ զաւրք Գեղումք ոչ աւելի քան զերկուս հազարս: Եւ պատերազմ ի վերայ երկրին այնորիկ: Հարին զզաւրն Պարսից, եւ փախստական արարեալ հալածական տանէին. զբազումս սպանեալ եւ զբազումս ձերբակալ արարեալ դարձան անդրէն եւ բանակեցան մաւտ ի տեղի պատերազմին եւ արքն այն հայաստանեայք ընդ նոսա: Մեռան բազումք եւ ի զաւրացն եւ ի հայաստանեայցն, որ ընդ մարզպանին Սմբատայ:

 25:5 The army of the Gełumk’ were not more than two thousand. There was a battle at that place. They defeated the Persian army, put them to flight, and pursued them. Many they killed, and many they captured. Then they returned and camped near the site of the battle, those Armenians with them. Many died among the soldiers and among the Armenians who were with the marzpan Smbat:
