57:0 Յաղագս գալոյն Շապհոյ թագաւորին Պարսից յերկիրն Հայոց, եւ միանգամայն սատակել զմնացեալս երկրին, եւ բիւր չարեացն զոր կրեցին:	57:0 The coming of the Iranian king Shapuh to the country of Armenia and the complete destruction of the remnants left alive:
57:1 Ապա յետ այսորիկ խաղաց գնաց թագաւորն Պարսից Շապուհ ամենայն իշխանութեամբ զօրաց իւրոց, եւ չոգաւ ել յերկիրն Հայոց. եւ առաջնորդ ունէր ընդ իւր զՎահան ի մամիկոնեան տոհմէն, եւ զՄերուժանն յարծրունեաց տոհմէն:	57:1 After this Shapuh, the king of Iran, went to the country of Armenia with all the troops under his authority. He had as guides Vahan, from the Mamikonean tohm, and Meruzhan, from the Arcrunik tohm:
57:2 Ապա հասեալ ասպատակէին յերկիրն Հայոց, եւ առնուին զամենայն գերին ի մի վայր ժողովեցին:	57:2 They reached the country of Armenia and began raiding. They took all their captives and assembled them in one place:
57:3 Եւ բազումք ի նախարարացն Հայոց թողուին զկանայս իւրեանց եւ զորդիս եւ զընտանիս, եւ փախեան ընդ այս ընդ այն գնացին:	57:3 Many of the Armenian naxarars left their women, children, and families and fled here and there:
57:4 Իսկ զամենայն կանայս նախարարացն Հայոց, զոր թողին եւ փախեանն, ասպատակն ժողովէր. եւ ածին զնոսա առ Շապուհ արքայ Պարսից:	57:4 The marauder gathered all the women whom the Armenian naxarars had left when they fled, and brought them to king Shapuh of Iran:
57:5 Իբրեւ էր բանակն Շապհոյ թագաւորին Պարսից ի գաւառն Բագրեւանդայ յաւերս քաղաքին Զարեհաւանի, զոր յառաջնումն եկեալք զօրքն Պարսից աւերեցին, եւ ածին ժողովեցին առաջի թագաւորին Պարսից զամենայն գերին մնացորդաց աշխարհին Հայոց, ապա հրաման տայր թագաւորն Պարսից Շապուհ, զամենայն այր ի չափ հասեալ կոխան արարեալ փղաց, եւ զամենայն զկին եւ զմանուկ հանել ընդ ցից սայլից:	57:5 The banak of king Shapuh of Iran was then located in the district of Bagrewand, at the ruins of the city of Zarehawan which had been ruined previously by the Iranian troops. They brought before the Iranian king all the slave remnants of the land of Armenia. King Shapuh of Iran ordered that all mature males be trampled by elephants, and that all the women and children should be put under the blades of threshers:
57:6 Հազարք հազարաց եւ բիւրք բիւրուց սպանին, զի ոչ գոյր թիւ կամ համար սպանելոցն. եւ զկանայս ազատացն եւ նախարարացն զփախուցելոցն հրաման տայր ածել յասպարէզն` որ էր ի Զարեհվան քաղաքի:	57:6 They killed thousands upon thousands, myriads upon myriads, there was no counting the slain. Shapuh ordered that the women of the fugitive azats and naxarars should be taken to the horse-arena in the city of Zarehawan:
57:7 Եւ հրաման տայր հոլանել զամենայն ազատ կանանին, եւ նստուցանել աստի անտի ասպարիսին. եւ ինքն Շապուհ արքայ հեծեալ ի ձի, արշաւակի անցանէր առ կանանովն. եւ որ յակն գային, մի մի ի նոցանէ պղծեալ ի խառնակութիւն տանէր առ ինքն:	57:7 He ordered that all the azat women should be stripped and seated here and there in the arena. Then king Shapuh himself, mounted on a horse quickly rode around the women. Those who caught his eye he took with him, one by one, to rape:
57:8 Քանզի մօտ յասպարէսն հարեալ էր խորանն, յոր առեալ մտանէր գործել զանօրէնութիւն. եւ այնպէս զբազում աւուրս առնէր զայն ընդ կանայսն:	57:8 For he had pitched a tent near the arena and he would go there to commit impiety. Thus, he spent many days with the women:
57:9 Եւ զազգն Սիւնեաց տոհմին զամենայն զայր ի չափ հասեալ կոտորեցին, եւ զկանայս սպանին. եւ զամենայն մանր մանկտիսն ներքինիս հրամայէր առնել, եւ խաղացուցանել յերկիրն Պարսից:	57:9 They killed all the mature males of the azg of the Siwnik tohm, killed all the women, and Shapuh ordered that all the young boys should be made eunuchs and sent to the country of Iran:
57:10 Եւ առնէր զայս ամենայն վասն վրիժուցն Անդուկայ, որ եղեւ պատերազմ ընդ Ներսեհ արքայ Պարսից:	57:10 He did all this to get vengeance on Andovk, as a result of whom there was war with Nerseh, king of Iran:
57:11 Եւ տայր հրաման Շապուհ արքայն Պարսից զամուր ամուր տեղիսն Հայոց բերդս շինել, հրամայեաց եւ բերդակալս կացուցանել:	57:11 Shapuh, king of Iran, commanded that fortresses should be built in the very secure places of Armenia, and that fortress-keepers be designated:
57:12 Եւ զազատ կանանին անդէն ի բերդեանն բաշխէր եւ թողոյր. զի եթէ ոչ արք նոցա եկեսցեն նմա ի ծառայութիւն, սպանցեն զկանայս նոցա բերդակալքն` առ որս եթող զնոսա:	57:12 He divided the azat women among the fortresses and left them there. For if their husbands did not come to him in service, the women in the fortresses would be killed by the fortress-keepers with whom they had been left:
57:13 Եւ եթող յաշխարհին զԶիկն եւ զԿարէնն, զնոցա իշխանս զօրօք բազմօք. եւ զիշխանութիւն մնացորդացն ետ ի ձեռս Վահանայ եւ Մերուժանայ, եւ ինքն գնաց յԱտրպայական:	57:13 And he left Zik and Karen in the land as princes for them, with many troops. Authority over the remainders was entrusted to Vahan and Meruzhan. Then Shapuh himself went to Atrpayakan:
