Ագաթանգեղոս 3-29 Agatangeghos

29:1 Ապա յետ այսորիկ հրաման ետ մեծ կայսրն, աւգոստականն Կոստանդիանոս՝ ժողովել ամենայն եպիսկոպոսաց ի քաղաքն Նիկիացւոց:	29:1 It was after this that the great emperor Constantine Augustus issued an order for all the bishops to assemble in the city of Nicaea:
29:2 Յայնժամ մեծ արքայն Տրդատ եւ սուրբ կաթողիկոսն Գրիգորիոս հանդերձեցին եւ արձակեցին զԱրիստակէս, որ երթեալ հասանէր ի մեծ ժողովն Նիկիայ ընդ եպիսկոպոսն ամենայն. ուր ամենայն տիեզերաց կարգեցաւ ընդունելութեան աւանդութեանն հաւատք եւ կարգք լուսաւորութեան, կանոնք պայմանաւորք, աստուածատուր զաւրութիւն հաճոյիցն Աստուծոյ անչափ բարձրութեանցն:	29:2 Then the great king Trdat and the blessed katoghikos Gregory prepared and dispatched Aristakes, who arrived at the great Council of Nicaea among all the bishops. It was there that the acceptable traditions of the faith and the orders of illumination were defined for the whole world including the established canons, the divine power of the will of God most high:
29:3 Ուր եւ մեծ կայսրն Կոստանդիանոս խոստովան լինէր զհաւատսն եւ աւրհնութեամբ պսակեալ ի ժողովոյն՝ զանուն յերկրի թողոյր եւ զարդարութիւն յերկինս հաստատէր:	29:3 It was there, too, that the great emperor Constantine entered and confessed the faith and was crowned with blessing by the assembly, leaving on earth a name for righteousness and establishing for himself righteousness in heaven:
29:4 Իսկ երանելին Արիստակէս «գայր պայծառ ծագեալ հաւատովքն եւ հաստատուն աստուածահաճոյ Նիկիական կանոնաւքն երեւել ի Հայաստան երկրին. եւ առաջի դնէր թագաւորին եւ կաթողիկոսին սրբոյ՝ զբերեալ աւանդութիւնսն:	29:4 Then the blessed Aristakes returned with glorious faith and with the confirmed Nicene canons which are pleasing to God, to make them known in the country of Armenia. He put before the king and the blessed katoghikos the traditions he had brought:
29:5 Որով սրբոյն Գրիգորի ի նոյն լուսաւոր կանոնսն յաւելեալ, առաւել եւս զիւր վիճակն, զՀայաստան երկիրն, պայծառացուցեալ, հանդերձ միաբանութեամբ արքային Տրդատայ՝ զամենայն աւուրս կենաց իւրոց լուսաւորէր:	29:5 And then saint Gregory made additions to these luminous canons, making ever more glorious his own see of the country of Armenia. With the united support of King Trdat, he illuminated Armenia all the days of his life:
29:6 Ապա յետ այսպիսի գործոց դարձեալ առաւել բարձրագոյն վարդապետութեամբ սկսեալ երանելւոյն Գրիգորի ճառս յաճախագոյնս դժուարապատումս, առակս խորիմացս դիւրալուրս բազմադիմիս շնորհագիրս, յարդարեալս ի զաւրութենէ եւ ի հիւթոյ գրոց մարգարէականաց, լի ամենայն ճաշակաւք կարգեալս եւ յաւրինեալս աւետարանական հաւատոցն ճշմարտութեան:	29:6 Then after such deeds, with even more profound teaching blessed Gregory began to compose many discourses, difficult of language, profound parables, easy to listen to, many-faceted, composed by grace, composed from the power and matter of the prophetic writings, full of all subtleties, and arranged and ordered in the truth of the evangelical faith:
29:7 Յորս բազում նմանութիւնս եւ աւրինակս յանցաւորաց աստի, առաւել վասն յարութենական յուսոյն առ ի հանդերձեալսն յերիւրեալ, զի հեշտընկալք եւ դիւրահասոյցք տխմարագունիցն եւ մարմնական իրաւք զբաղելոցն լինիցին, առ ի սթափել զուարթացուցանել եւ հաստահիմն առ խոստացեալ աւետիսն քաջալերել:	29:7 In these he set out many similes and examples from the transitory world, especially concerning the hope of the resurrection for the future life, that they might be intelligible and easily understood by the ignorant and those occupied with worldly affairs, in order to awaken and arouse and urge them on firmly to the promised good news:
29:8 Զաւետարանական ընթացսն եւ զվերակացութիւն եկեղեցւոյ սրբոյ՝ շնորհաւքն Աստուծոյ առանց պակասութեան տանէր. եւ առաւել փութայր գուն եդեալ՝ զամենայն ոք յորդորելով առ ի բարեացն քաջալերութիւն:	29:8 By the grace of God he fulfilled his preaching journeys and the oversight of the holy church without any failure. And he made all the greater effort to urge everyone on to good works:
29:9 Զցայգ եւ զցերեկ պահաւք եւ աղաւթիւք եւ ուժգին խնդրուածովք, եւ բարձրագոյն բարբառովք զաստուածադիր պատուիրանացն զհրամանսն յուշ առնելով զգուշացուցանէր ամենայն մարդոյ:	29:9 Day and night, with fasting and prayers and ardent requests and strong words he commended the divine commandments to everyone:
29:10 չ տայր քուն աչաց, եւ ոչ նինջ արտեւանաց, եւ ոչ հանգիստ իրանացն, մինչեւ հասանել ի հանգիստ Տեառն:	29:10 He gave no sleep to his eyes, no respite to his eyebrows, no rest to his limbs” [Ps. 131.4] until he attained the rest of the Lord:
29:11 Եւ այսպէս հանդերձ թագաւորաւն եւ ամենայն աշակերտելովքն զամենայն ժամանակս իւրեանց ընթերցուածոց գրոց ծախէին զտիւ եւ զգիշեր. եւ նովին ծաղկեալք եւ շահաւետեալք, եւ աւրինակ բարեաց ուսումնասէր առընթերակացացն լինէին:	29:11 And thus, with the king and all his pupils they spent all their time, day and night, in the reading of the scriptures. Adorned and profited thereby, they were an example of good works to their studious companions:
29:12 Մանաւանդ զի ունէին եւս պատուիրանս զգուշացուցիչս յաստուածակարգ պատգամաւորացն, որոց առաջինն հրամայէ, թէ «Յաւրէնս տեառն խորհեսցիս ի տուէ եւ ի գիշերի». եւ երկրորդն զհամագունակն պատուիրէ, թէ «Միտ դիր ընթերցուածոց մխիթարութեան վարդապետութեան. մի՛ անփոյթ առներ զշնորհացդ որ ի քեզ են. յայդ խորհեաց եւ ի դոյն կանխեսջիր, զի քո յառաջադիմութիւնդ յայտնի լիցի ամենեցուն. զգոյշ լինիջիր անձինդ եւ վարդապետութեանդ, եւ ի դմին յամեսջի՛ր. զայդ եթէ առնիցես՝ եւ զանձն ապրեցուսցես եւ զայնոսիկ որ քեզն լսիցեն:	29:12 For in particular they had the commandments of the divinely-appointed messengers admonishing them, of which the first orders: “Contemplate the law of the Lord day and night” [Ps. 1.2] and the second commands the same: “Attend to the readings of the teaching of consolation. Do not neglect the grace which is in you. Think on this and be prompt in the same, that your progress may be clear to all. Take care for yourself and your teaching, and persevere in the same. If you do this you will save yourself and those who hear you:
29:13 Արդ՝ այսու աւրինակաւ զամենայն աւուրս կենաց իւրոց առաքելաբան առաքելագործ վարեալ, զհետ երթեալ հրամանացն ընկալելոց մինչեւ ի վախճան կատարածին զայս առնէր ամ յամէ, եւ թաղեալ ի սէրն Քրիստոսի լուսաւորէր:	29:13 So, in this fashion he spent all the days of his life in acts like those of the Apostles, following the commands he had received year by year until his death. And immersed in Christ’s love he shone forth:
