9:201 Այլ քանզի ոչ կարէաք տեսանել զանտեսանելին եւ մերձենալ յանմերձենալին, եկն եմուտ ընդ մերով մարդկութեամբս, զի եւ մեք մտցուք ընդ նորա աստուածութեամբն:

 9:201 But because we were unable to see the invisible or approach the unapproachable, he came and submitted to our humanity so that we might attain his divinity:

9:202 Ոչ անարգանս ինչ համարեցաւ զգենուլ զիւր ստեղծուած մարմինս, այլ մեծարեաց իբրեւ զաստուածաստեղծ զիւր գործ:

 9:202 He did not think it any disgrace to put on this body created by himself, but he honored as divinely fashioned his own creation:

9:203 Ոչ առ սակաւ սակաւ շնորհեաց ինչ սմա զանմահութեան պատիւն՝ իբրեւ զանմարմին հրեշտակաց, այլ միանգամայն զբոլոր բնութիւնն մարմնով, շնչով եւ հոգւով զգեցաւ, եւ միաբանեաց ընդ աստուածութեանն. միութիւն, եւ ոչ երկուութիւն. եւ այսուհետեւ մի գիտեմք զաստուածութիւնն, որ յառաջ էր քան զաշխարհս, նոյն եւ այսաւր:

 9:203 Not gradually did he bestow on it the honor of immortality, as with the incorporeal angels, but all at once he put on the entire human nature, with body, soul, and spirit, and united it to his divinity —a unity and not a duality. Consequently, we acknowledge the divinity as one, who existed before this world and is the same today:

9:204 Այս Յիսուս Քրիստոս, որ յիւր մարմինն փրկեաց զբոլոր աշխարհս, սա եկն կամաւ ի մահ. եւ որպէս ինքն աստուածութիւնն գիտէ՝ թանձրացաւ յանարատ կուսէն, եւ ծնաւ եւ պատեցաւ ի խանձարուրս եւ եդաւ ի մսուր, եւ շարժեաց էած զմոգսն յարեւելից յերկրպագութիւն. սնաւ իբրեւ զտղայ կաթամբ, աճեաց եւ մեծացաւ ամս երեսուն մկրտեցաւ ի Յովհաննէ ի յամլորդւոյն ի Յորդանան գետ:

 9:204 This Jesus Christ, who in his own body redeemed the whole world, came willingly to death. And, as the Godhead knows, he was formed from the immaculate Virgin, was born and wrapped in swaddling clothes, was placed in a manger, brought the magi from the East to worship him, was nourished as an infant with milk, grew up and reached thirty years of age, was baptized in the Jordan River by John, son of the barren woman:

9:205 Արար նշանս մեծամեծս եւ արուեստս ի մէջ Հրէիցն. մատնեցաւ ի քահանայից, դատապարտեցաւ ի Պիղատոսէ Պոնտացւոյ:

 9:205 He performed great signs and miracles among the Jews, was betrayed by the priests, was condemned by Pontius Pilate:

9:206 Խաչեցաւ, մեռաւ, թաղեցաւ, յարեաւ յաւուր երրորդի. երեւեցաւ երկոտասան աշակերտացն եւ այլոց բազմաց աւելի քան զհինգ հարիւրոցն:

 9:206 He was crucified, died, was buried, rose on the third day, appeared to the twelve disciples and to many others—more than five hundred:

9:207 Եւ շրջելով ընդ նոսա զաւուրս քառասուն՝ վերացաւ ի լեռնէն Ձիթենեաց յերկինս յանդիման իւրոց աշակերտացն, ել եւ նստաւ ի հայրենի աթոռն:

 9:207 He moved among them for forty days, ascended from the Mount of Olives to heaven before his own disciples, and came and sat on the Father’s throne:

9:208 Խոստացաւ երկրորդ անգամ գալ ահաւոր զաւրութեամբ յարուցանել զմեռեալս, նորոգել զբոլոր աշխարհս, առնել դատաստան արդար ի մէջ արդարոց եւ մեղաւորաց, տալ պարգեւս արժանաւորաց, եւ հատուցանել պատիժս չարագործաց, որ այսմ ամենայնի բարերարութեանց ոչ հաւատան:

 9:208 He promised to come a second time with fearsome power to raise the dead, to renew the whole world, to make a just judgment between the just and the sinners, to give rewards to the worthy, to punish evildoers who do not believe in all these benevolent acts:

9:209 Յայսմ հաւատոց զմեզ ոչ ոք կարէ խախտել, ոչ հրեշտակք եւ ոչ մարդիկ, ոչ սուր եւ ոչ հուր, ոչ ջուր, ոչ ամենայն զինչ եւ են դառն հարուածք:

 9:209 From this faith no one can shake us, neither angels nor men, neither sword nor fire nor water, nor any kind of cruel torture:

9:210 Ամենայն ինչք եւ ստացուածք մեր ի ձեռս քո, եւ մարմինք մեր առաջի քո կան. ըստ կամաց քոց արա զինչ եւ կամիս:

 9:210 All our possessions and properties are in your hands and our bodies stand before you; do with them whatever you will:

9:211 Եթէ սովին հաւատովք թողուս, ոչ յերկրի այլ տէր փոխանակեմք ընդ քեզ, եւ ոչ յերկինս այլ Աստուած փոխանակեմք ընդ Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի, որ չիք այլ Աստուած բաց ի նմանէ:

 9:211 If you leave us with this same faith, we shall not exchange you for another lord on earth, nor in heaven shall we exchange for another god Jesus Christ—than whom there is no other God:

9:212 Ապա եթէ յետ այսր մեծի վկայութեան այլ ինչ հարցանես, աւասիկ կամք զբոլոր մարմինս տուեալ ի ձեռս քո. վաղվաղակի արա զինչ եւ կամիս:

 9:212 Now if after this extensive testimony you ask further questions, behold we have given our entire bodies into your hands:

9:213 Ի քէն տանջանք եւ ի մէնջ յանձնառութիւնք. սուր քո՝ եւ պարանոցք մեր:

 9:213 Do immediately whatever you wish: tortures from you, submission from us; the sword is yours, the necks are ours:

9:214 չեմք ինչ լաւ մեք քան զառաջինսն, որ յայսր վկայութեան վերայ եդին զինչս եւ զստացուածս եւ զմարմինս իւրեանց:

 9:214 We are no better than our ancestors, who on behalf of this witness laid down their possessions, properties, and bodies:

9:215 Զի եթէ անմահք իսկ էաք, եւ մարթ էր մեզ մեռանել վասն սիրոյն Քրիստոսի, արժան էր. քանզի եւ նա անմահ էր, եւ ա՛յնչափ սիրեաց զմեզ, մինչեւ մահ ի յանձն էառ, զի եւ մեք նորա մահուամբն յաւիտենական մահուանէն ապրեսցուք:

 9:215 For if we were immortal and it was possible for us to die for the love of Christ, it would be right to do so, because he was immortal and so loved us that he accepted death in order that by his death we might be saved from eternal death:

9:216 Եւ եթէ նա յիւր անմահութիւնն ոչ խնայեաց, մեք զի կամաւք եղաք մահկանացուք, կամաւք մեռցուք վասն սիրոյ նորա, զի կամաւք յանձն առցէ զմեզ յիւր յանմահութիւնն. մեռցուք իբրեւ զմահկանացուս. զի ընկալցի զմեր մահն իբրեւ զանմահից:

 9:216 And if he did not spare his own immortality, we—since we become mortal by our own will—shall willingly die for his love so that he may willingly endow us with his own immortality; we shall die as mortals so that he may accept our death as that of immortals:

9:217 Այլ դու յետ այսր ամենայնի այլ զմեզ մի՛ հարցաներ. զի ոչ եթէ ընդ մարդոյ է ուխտ հաւատոց մերոց, եթէ պատրիցիմք իբրեւ զտղայս. այլ անլուծութեամբ ընդ Աստուծոյ, որում չիք հնար քակտել եւ ի բաց ելանել, ոչ այժմ եւ ոչ յապա, եւ ոչ յաւիտեանս, եւ ոչ յաւիտենից յաւիտեանս:

 9:217 But do you ask us no further questions after all this, for the covenant of our faith is not with a man that we may be deceived like children, but is indissolubly with God—from whom it is impossible to be divided or separated, not now, not in the future, not forever, not forever and ever:

9:218 Ի սմին մեծի հաւանութեան ամենայն բազմութիւնն միաբանեաց ի մեծամեծաց մինչեւ ցփոքունս. անսուտ երդմամբ եդին վկայութիւն՝ կենաւք եւ մահու ի նմին կալ հաստատուն:

 9:218 To this great pact all the multitude assented, from the greatest to the smallest. With a solemn oath they bore witness that they would remain true to it in life and death:

9:219 Եւ իբրեւ եհաս նամակն յարքունիս, եւ ընթերցան ի մեծի խոնաստանի յանդիման ամենայն բազմութեան կարաւանին, բազումք այնոքիկ էին, որ իբրեւ լսէին՝ գովէին զպատասխանիսն:

 9:219 When the letter reached the court and was read in the great hall in the presence of the whole host of the army, many were they who on hearing it praised the answer:

9:220 Թէպէտ եւ երկնչէին յահէ տէրութեանն, սակայն ի ծածուկ առ միմեանս զնոյն վկայութիւնս գովութեանց տային. առաւել քան ընդ ճարտարաբանութիւնն՝ ընդ համարձակութիւն աներկիւղութեանն զարմանային:

 9:220 Although they were frightened for awe of the government, yet secretly they bore witness of their praise to one another, astonished more at its bold fearlessness than at its eloquence:

9:221 Եւ բազումք ահաբեկեալք սկսան զրահել պնդապէս, եւ զնոյն շշնջիւն լսէին յամենայն շրթանց:

 9:221 Many of the cowed began to recover strength; and the same whispering was heard from all lips:

9:222 Իսկ չարասէր մոգպետն հանդերձ մեծ հազարապետաւն շնչեաց չարախաւսութիւն, եւ բորբոքեաց զթագաւորն իբրեւ զհուր անշիջանելի:

 9:222 But the malicious chief-magus with the great hazarapet breathed calumny, and inflamed the king like an inextinguishable fire:

9:223 Եւ սկսաւ կրճտել զատամունսն իբրեւ զաւրհասական վիրաւոր. եւ յայտ յանդիման ձայն արձակեաց առ մեծ հրապարակն եւ ասէ. «Գիտեմ ես զչարութիւն բազմութեան մարդկանս, որ թերահաւատեն ի մերոց աւրինացս, եւ զկնի կախարդութեան մոլորեալ են անդարձութեամբ:

 9:223 He began to gnash his teeth like one fatally wounded. In public he raised his voice in the great assembly and note: “I know the wickedness of the many men who do not believe in our religion and have gone irrevocably astray after sorcery:

9:224 Եւ իմ եդեալ է ի մտի, թէ ոչ ումեք թողացուցից ի մեծամեծ հարուածոցն, մինչեւ ակամայ ի բաց կացցեն յայնպիսի վրիպական աւրինաց. եթէ ոք կարի ի մերձաւորաց իցէ, զնոյն անցս եւ ընդ նա անցուցից:

 9:224 I have decided that I shall not exempt anyone from the worst tortures until they, though unwillingly, abandon such an erroneous religion. Even if someone is among those very close to me, I shall inflict the same on him:

9:225 Յայնժամ ծերն դառնացեալ բանս ի ներքս ընկէց, եւ ասէ ցթագաւորն. «Առ ի՞նչ է քո այդ մեծ տրտմութիւնդ. զի եթէ կայսր չելանէ ըստ քո հրաման, եւ Հոնք կան քեզ ի ծառայութեան, ո՞ր մարդ է յերկրի, եթէ կարող է ընդդէմ դառնալ քում հրամանիդ:

 9:225 Then the embittered old man interposed and said to the king: “What is the reason for this great dejection of yours? For if the emperor does not transgress your command and the Huns remain subject to you, what man is there on earth who could oppose your order:
