5:101 Բայց ի ժամ բազմականացն կարծիք իմն եղեն ի միտս սրբոցն վասն երիցու միոյ, որ էր ընդ նոսա ի սուրբ կապանսն. զի ի մէջ շինական մարդկան կեցեալ էր, եւ տգիտագոյն եւս էր ի գրոց մխիթարութենէ:

 5:101 While they were at the table the saints recalled a priest, who had been in holy bonds with them; having lived among peasants he was more ignorant than they of the consolation of Scripture:

5:102 Հրամայեցին նմա ունել զգլուխ բազմականին. ետ պատասխանի երանելին եւ ասէ. «Զի՞նչ է այդ, զոր դուքդ գործէք. եւ կամ յինէն զի՞ թաքուցանէք զծածուկս խորհրդոցդ:

 5:102 They ordered him to occupy the head of the table, but the blessed one responded: “What is this you are doing? And why do you hide your secret intentions from me:

5:103 Ես քան զկրսերս ձեր խոնարհագոյն եմ, եւ քան զեւս փոքունս յաշակերտաց ձերոց տգիտագոյն եմ. զիա՞րդ կարացից այդմ տանել:

 5:103 I am more lowly than the least among you, and more ignorant than the most insignificant of your pupils. How could I submit to this:

5:104 Այս իսկ մեծ էր ինձ, զի սուրբ կապանաց ձերոց հաղորդեալ եմ այսաւր:

 5:104 It was already a great thing for me to share today your holy bonds:

5:105 Եթէ արժանի համարիք ձերում սեղանոյդ, կալարուք դուք զիւրաքանչիւր տեղի բազմականիդ, եւ հրամայեցէք ինձ զիմ տեղին:

 5:105 If you consider me worthy of your table, take each your own seat and allow me my own place:

5:106 Եւ բռնադատեաց սուրբ եպիսկոպոսն միաբանութեամբ ամենայն սրբոցն, եւ ի վերոյ քան զամենեսեան բազմեցուցին զնա:

 5:106 But the holy bishop with all the saints insisted, and they sat him above them all:

5:107 Եւ իբրեւ բոլորեցաւ ակումբ բազմականին, եւ հաղորդեցան ամենեքեան ի կերակուրն զուարթութեամբ, յոտն եկաց սուրբն Յովսէփ, եւ սկսաւ զուրախութեան նուագն մատուցանել եւ ասել այսպէս:

 5:107 When the banquet had come to an end and they had all joyfully participated in the food, Saint Joseph stood up and began to offer grace in the following words:

5:108 Ուրախ լերուք ամենեքեան ի Քրիստոս. քանզի վաղիւ այս ժամ իցէ՝ ահա մոռացեալ իցէ մեր զամենայն նեղութիւնս եւ զչարչարանս զոր կրեցաք:

 5:108 All rejoice in Christ, for by this time tomorrow we shall have forgotten all the tribulations and torments we have endured:

5:109 Եւ փոխանակ սակաւ աշխատութեանս մերոյ՝ բազմապատիկ հանգիստ ընդունելոց եմք, եւ փոխանակ խաւարային արգելանի բանտի` մտանելոց եմք յերկնից քաղաքն լուսաւոր, որոյ քաղաքի քաղաքապետ ինքն Քրիստոս է, հանդիսապետ, յորում ասպարիսի նախ ինքն առաքինացաւ առնելով զնշան յաղթութեան:

 5:109 In return for our small travail we shall receive manifold relief; instead of this gloomy prison we shall enter the heavenly city of light, the ruler of which is Christ—he is the president of the arena where he first competed and won the medal of victory:

5:110 Եւ այսաւր նոյն Տէր է, որ յաջողէ մեզ զնոյն նշան ընդունելով ի փրկութիւն անձանց մերոց եւ ի պարծանս մեծափառ սուրբ եկեղեցւոյ:

 5:110 Today it is the same Lord who accords us success in receiving that same medal for the salvation of our souls and the glory of the illustrious holy church:

5:111 Եւ զոր աւրինակ տեսէք դուք զեղբայրս զայս ի գլուխ բազմականիս մերոյ, սոյնպէս սա նախ ընդունելոց է վաղիւ զպսակն ի ձեռն կատարմանն իւրոյ:

 5:111 Just as you see this brother at the head of our table, so he will be the first tomorrow to receive the crown through his martyrdom:

5:112 Զի ահաւասիկ եկն եհաս եւ մերձեցաւ առ մեզ թշնամին կենաց մերոց եւ պսակիչ սուրբ չարչարանաց ծառայիցս Քրիստոսի:

 5:112 For behold, the enemy of our lives who crowns the holy torments of Christ’s servants has arrived and is close upon us:

5:113 Զայս իբրեւ ասաց, լուաւ ի նմանէ բանս պնդութեան, որով յոյժ մխիթարեցան ամենեքեան:

 5:113 When he had said this, he received a corroborating reply from him the chief-magus, whereby they were all greatly consoled:

5:114 Ասէ. «Ի սուրբ աղաւթից ձերոց այսպէս արասցէ ինձ Քրիստոս, եւ կատարեսցէ զելս վախճանին իմոյ յաշխարհէս ըստ բանի քում:

 5:114 He note: “May Christ so do to me by means of your holy prayers, and may he bring about my departure from this world as you have said:

5:115 Եւ ահա ընդ ասելդ քո ազդումն եղեւ հոգւոյս իմոյ, եւ յիշեցի ես զմարդասիրութիւնն Քրիստոսի, որոյ եւ գալուստ իսկ նորա յաշխարհս վասն մեր մեղացն եղեւ:

 5:115 Indeed, while you were speaking, my soul was inspired and I recalled the benevolence of Christ, whose coming into this world took place because of our sins:

5:116 Գթասցի յիս որպէս եւ յաւազակն ի ժամ խաչին. որպէս նովաւ զդրունս փակեալ դրախտին եբաց, եւ յառաջեցաւ լինել կարապետ այնոցիկ՝ որ անդրէն ի նոյն տեղի դառնալոց էին յուրախութիւն, արասցէ եւ զիս այսաւր Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոս սպասաւոր ձերում մեծաշուք գնդիդ:

 5:116 May he have mercy on me as he did on the thief at the time of the crucifixion. As through him he opened the closed gates of paradise so that he was the first to become a herald to those who were to return there to joy, so may the Lord Jesus Christ also make me today a servant to your glorious company:

5:117 Աւանիկ վասն միոյ մեղաւորի, որ դառնայ յապաշխարութիւն, անվախճան լինի ուրախութիւն հրեշտակաց յերկինս. որպէս զի գիտեն իսկ զկամս Տեառն իւրեանց:

 5:117 Behold, for the sake of one sinner who returns to repentance the angels have unending joy in heaven, as they well know the desire of their Lord:

5:118 Քանզի վասն միոյ կորուսելոյ ոչխարին եկն ի խնդիր, վասն այնորիկ եւ նոքա խնդակիցք լինին վասն միոյ դարձելոյ յապաշխարութիւն:

 5:118 Because he came to seek a single lost sheep, therefore they share in his joy over one returning to repentance:

5:119 Թերեւս վասն իմ իսկ եկեալ էր մեծ զաւրավարն Հայոց բազում սուրբ ընկերակցաւքն իւրովք. զպսակն վասն ձեր բերեալ էր, այլ զուրախութեան աւետիսն հասարակաց տայր:

 5:119 Perhaps it was for my sake that the great Armenian general came with his numerous holy companions; he brought the crown for you but he gave the joyful news to everyone:

5:120 Եւ առաւել եւս ընդ իս էին զարմացեալ. զի ոչ ճանաչէին զիս ի կեանս իւրեանց, ահա ի սուրբ մահն իւրեանց կամին՝ զի եւ ես մասն ընկալայց ընդ երանելիսն:

 5:120 They were especially amazed at me, as they did not know me while they were alive; now on their holy death they wish that I too receive a portion with the blessed ones:

5:121 Աղաչեմ զձեզ, տեարք իմ եւ հարք, աղաւթս արարէք ի վերայ անարժանութեանս իմոյ, զի արժանի եղէց մեծի աւետեացն հասանել, որ յանսուտ ձերոց բերանոցդ բարբառեցաւ ի լսելիս իմ:

 5:121 I beg you, my lords and fathers, pray for my unworthiness that I may become worthy to attain the great Gospel, which has been proclaimed to my ears from your unlying mouths:

5:122 Արդ փութամ տեսանել զաւրն, եւ յաւուր անդ զժամն եկեալ հասեալ ի վերայ մեր:

 5:122 Indeed, I am anxious to see that day, and on the day the hour coming upon us:

5:123 Եւ ե՞րբ իցէ՝ զի ելից ի թանձրադանդաղ ձանձրալի մարմնոյս այսորիկ. ե՞րբ իցէ՝ զի տեսից զքեզ Տէր Յիսուս:

 5:123 When will it be that I shall leave this burdensome and tiresome body? When will it be that I shall see you, Lord Jesus:

5:124 Ե՞րբ իցէ՝ զի աներկիւղ եղէց ի մահուանէ. ե՞րբ իցէ՝ զի տգիտութիւնս իմ հասցէ ի կատարեալ գիտութիւն:

 5:124 When will it be that I shall be unafraid of death? When will it be that my ignorance will attain perfect knowledge:

5:125 Աւգնեա ինձ, Տէր, աւգնեա ինձ, եւ կարկառեա զամենազաւր աջդ յաւգնականութիւն. զի ըստ խոստման բանիցս իմոց եւ գործք արդեամբք կատարեսցին ի վերայ իմ. եւ փառաւոր լիցի յիս ի մեղաւորս անուն Տեառն մերոյ Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի:

 5:125 Help me, Lord, help me, and stretch out your almighty right hand to my succor, so that in accordance with the promise of my words deeds also may truly be accomplished with regard to me, and in me the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified among sinners:
